Yes it’s true, we are so excited to be opening our first bricks and mortar Exchange in time for summer. We’ve acquired a shop near Richmond Park in SW London. OK, it looks a bit tired now but it has two floors and lots of outdoor pavement space. Once we’re done refurbishing it will be a perfect shared cycling space, right near the Park. Showroom, workshop, café.
By the end of a busy summer last year we knew The Road Cycle Exchange concept was ready for the next level so we started to look for a proper retail space. Our partner mechanics – The Bicycle Service - were also looking to set up a bigger workshop in a prominent position, somewhere convenient for the many cyclists in the SW London / Surrey area. So we combined forces and eventually found the perfect spot. 139 Richmond Road, Kingston – a stones throw from Richmond Park.
So we get the keys on Friday 24th April and then the hard work begins – we will create a fantastic shared cycling space. A showroom to compliment the online Exchange roadcycleexchange.com. Somewhere you can come to see our bikes for sale, sell your bike, or part exchange. On the ground floor there will be a drop in workshop from The Bicycle Service and (subject to plans) a Café with indoor and outdoor seating. So you might be doing a few laps of the Park or on your way back from the Surrey Hills – drop in, see our bikes, get a price for your bike, get your bike fixed, grab a coffee.
Are you a Cycling Barista or have aspirations to be one? We’ll be putting the café space out to tender. A great opportunity for a start up venture or concession. Get in touch with Matt@roadcycleexchange.com if you are interested.
We’ll keep this blog updated with progress and photos.
