The summer race season has opened with the 100th edition of the Giro d’Italia. The race starts on 5 May with the opening stage in Sardinia and runs through to the 28th. Chris Froome is focusing on another Tour De France win so won’t be present but Sky’s team is as strong as ever with Mikel Landa, Sebastian Henao and Geraint Thomas all looking strong. The favourites for the GC win are Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain-Merida) and Nairo Quintana The scenery is always stunning and we’ll be following the action in the shop if you drop by - it’s live on British Eurosport from midday with highlights each night at 8pm (and at 10pm on Quest which is free-to-view).
Italian bike brands still hold a special place in the heart of many racing cycling fans and the brands go back to the birth of the sport. While much of the production has now moved to the far east (with some exceptions - see our recent blog on Colnago), the Italian flair for design continues to produce elegant and desirable bikes.
